Redback manufacture various configurations of specialized protective footwear for ‘Hot Metal’ industries. Smelter boot Key design and materials features are as follows: Leather : The leathers used are premium Australian and New Zealand Hides -mellow but 33% thicker than normal leather – all tannages include unique chemicals for molten metal, flame, heat and chemical resistance. The Protec Perfectol tannages are used in Upper, Tongue and spats. Rubber: Redback’s soling process is very innovative - The distinctive Redback Vulcanized Thermosetting. Green Nitrile Rubber compound is unique with special cross linkers for heat resistance. The sole will not melt or delaminate.
o Soft, shock absorbing compound
o Excellent Grip o Oil / Heat / Acid resistant (300C ongoing exposure – 1500C single exposure)
o Hot Metal Dip tested / approved for BHP Billiton sites, Alcoa and Pechiney sites around the world.
o The insole also has 2-density shock absorption.
Upper design: Redback were the first to develop the quick release ‘spatless’ smelter boot. Excellent protection in splashes and dips with quick release system. Hot metal can’t pool on upper and no laces to foul.
